Â鶹´«Ã½rtb inducted the twelfth class of its Athletic Hall of Fame recently during a special ceremony presented by TowneBank. Two university benefactors and four former Marlin athletic standouts were recognized at the ceremony. Jane P. Batten and George Y. and Sue Birdsong and the Birdsong families were honored for their outstanding philanthropic contributions of resources, time, and devoted support to the University's intercollegiate athletics program. The four former student-athletes, who represent the best of the best from Virginia Wesleyan's athletic history, are Victoria "Tori" Higginbotham-Abbey '14 (Softball, 2010-14), Jessica Edelman Gosnell '13 (Women's Soccer, 2009-13), Nancy Mattox Moore '00 (Women's Basketball and Softball, 1996-00), and Chris Yeager '94 (Men's Soccer, 1990-94). Congratulations to all!
Established in 2008, the Athletic Hall of Fame honors those who, by outstanding achievement in athletics, by service to athletics, or through significant contributions to athletics, have made lasting contributions to Â鶹´«Ã½rtb's intercollegiate athletic program. DR. SCOTT D. MILLER
Dr. Scott D. Miller is president of Virginia Wesleyan University. Respected as one of the most entrepreneurial higher education executives in America, he is in his 29th year as a university president. Dr. Miller has dedicated his career to the opportunities available through education. He especially values the small, classical, liberal arts college environment that offers students personalized pathways to life and career success. Previously, he was president of Bethany College (2007-2015), Wesley College (1997-2007), and Lincoln Memorial University (1991-1997). He was also Executive Vice President (1988-1991) and Vice President for Development (1984-1988) at Lincoln Memorial University and Director of College Relations and Alumni Affairs at Rio Grande College (now University) in Ohio.
