From the Desk of President Scott D. Miller
In September we celebrated Founders Day, which honors Virginia Wesleyan's past, celebrates its present, and looks ahead to its ever-bright future. Though presented in a virtual format, our Founders Day Convocation (which included the 2020 Alumni Awards) and Batten Honors College Convocation proceeded with powerful messages from Virginia playmakers. Anthony Walters, President and CEO of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and VWU Board of Trustees member, gave an inspiring virtual keynote address during Founders Day Convocation. For the Batten Honors Convocation, we welcomed virtual keynote speaker Ian H. Solomon, Dean of the Frank Batten School for Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. We were proud to present both of these accomplished leaders with our prestigious Wesley Award (pictured), honoring their outstanding contributions to human relations, social inclusiveness, and interpersonal understanding. Both events were remarkable during this unforgettable year. Feature Story

President to President: Fostering Innovation
The first chapter of the 2020-2021 President to President thought-leadership series, of which I am proud to serve as co-editor, is now available . In "Leveraging Institutional Culture to Foster Innovation," California State University, Monterey Bay President Dr. Eduardo M. Ochoa, describes how his relatively young institution transformed itself into a vibrant, bustling campus in only a few short years. He explains how an ongoing focus on innovation helps the University remain aligned with the needs of today's students and the surrounding community while staying true to its founding principles.
Â鶹´«Ã½rtb: Response to COVID-19
Â鶹´«Ã½rtb officials continue to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19, following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).

The University's Emergency Response Team has created VWU CovidSafe to provide information about the current number of confirmed cases impacting our campus. It will be updated weekly on Wednesdays to keep the community apprised of our current situation.
