Dear friends,

We were delighted to dedicate the Eric Nyman Performance Golf Center in late February, honoring our distinguished alumnus and Trustee. Eric's commitment and passion for advancing Virginia Wesleyan through innovation and creativity shines brightly through the remarkable gift of two golf simulation centers for Men's and Women's Golf in the Jane P. Batten Student Center.

In other good news, this year's 2024 Â鶹´«Ă˝rtb Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include the 2007 NCAA National Runner-Up men's basketball team and four outstanding individual athletes: Josh Currier '16, Kristina Karagiorgis '15, Scott Morgenroth '97, and Daryl "DJ" Woodmore '14. We're also proud to celebrate Bob Aston in the Benefactor category for his tremendous contributions to athletic facilities spanning multiple programs.

The VWU Robert Nusbaum Center hosted a duo of prominent events, demonstrating its dedication to fostering a culture of peace and social justice both within our campus community and in the wider world. We began the month with the celebration of the 2024 Season of Nonviolence, an international peace movement that reminds us that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower lives and communities. Later in the month, the Justine L. Nusbaum Lecture featured Dr. Michael Panitz's discussion on the historic and continually unfolding relationship between Jewish and African Americans. We're proud to host the Robert Nusbaum Center on our campus where esteemed scholars and thought leaders engage with pressing issues and stimulate critical discourse, enriching our academic environment and inspiring new perspectives.

In collaboration with the Virginia African American Cultural Center (VAACC), the VWU Global Campus Unity in Knowledge lecture series delved into the intersections of race, culture, and knowledge, fostering dialogue and understanding across diverse perspectives and experiences. We thank Virginia Beach City Council member Amelia Ross-Hammond for connecting VWU with the VAACC in this meaningful way.

Lastly, we hope you enjoy the 2023 Annual Report edition of the Â鶹´«Ă˝rtb Magazine. This edition highlights our partnership with the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and features recent campus initiatives, student endeavors, and our esteemed faculty members. Be sure to check out the online magazine for more campus news.

Sincerely,
